A cracking renewal of the Yorkshire Oaks at York (3.25) with Sariska and Midday locking horns again and being taken on by the new kid on the block Snow Fairy.
Michael Bell's Sariska heads the market at a best priced 9-4 and has come out on top on all three occasions she has clashed with Midday.
However Henry Cecil's filly clearly needed the run when finishing second to her in the Middleton Stakes on her seasonal reappearance when attempting to give the dual Oaks winner 5lb.
She stayed on really well that day without being given an uduly hard time and was beaten just 1 3/4 lengths at the line.
Since then she has had just one outing, and looked better than ever when beating Stacellita by just over a length in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood.
The daughter of Oasis Dream travelled supremely well that day and showed a terrific turn of foot to take three lengths out of the field at the two marker.
She then believed that she had done enough and began to idle, but picked up again when the French filly came at her inside the last and won going away at the line.
That was an excellent performance, and unlike Sariska she will relish the good to firm going at the Knavesmire.
For me everything looks in place for her to take Sariska's scalp for the first time and at 11-4 she certainly looks a bit of value.
The one fly in the ointment could be this year's oaks winner Snow Fairy, who quickened well to beat Meeznah and Epsom and then confirmed her superiority with a runaway win in the Irish equivalent.
It's difficult to way up how good she actually is as this year's crop of fillies does not long strong.
However she is unbeaten n three starts and remains open to further improvement and is not one to be taken lightly.
All in all it's a facsinating race to savour than get involved financially, but If forced into making a selection I would side with Midday at the 11-4 on offer with bet365 and Hills.
