As usual with a big golf tournament, the office is divided into different camps. Having already heard the case for Martin Kaymer, I am going to point puntinplay followers in the direction of someone who is going to get past the third round. That someone is Paul Casey.
An excellent second in this tournament last year Casey is out to confirm he is one of the best matchplay golfers in the world with a win this week. He has had a solid start to the season with two top ten finishes in the four tournaments he has played. This proves he is suffering no ill effects from the injury which hampered him at the back end of last season. Casey also resides in Scottsdale Arizona which is down the road from this weeks venue Dove Mountain, of which he is a member. This means Casey knows the course like the back of his hand and will not have to adjust his game to suit. Another good reason to be backing Casey is that he has been drawn in the Snead Bracket which is by far the easiest. This makes the 11/2 offered by Sportingbet look great value and the fact that they are offering a 1/2 1,2 on the quarter betting means that Casey only has to beat three inferior players to show a profit. If Casey negotiates his quarter he is likely to meet Geoff Ogilvy or Lee Westwood for a place in the final. Both of these players will be tough matches but most firms are offering each way terms 1/4 1,2,3,4, so if Casey does fall at that hurdle puntinplay followers will already be in profit.
