As we have come to expect it was a night of surprises in the second round of the Carling Cup last night. Potential Premier strugglers who don’t want to progress in the competition field weakened sides against motivated opposition and the result is a win for a team from the lower league.
Last night it was MK Dons who grabbed the headlines.
Tonight the Premier side who fit the profile are Blackburn Rovers. Under Steve Kean they have mastered the art of relegation form. So far this season they are zip from two games and the Ewood Park faithful will vote with their wallets and feet for tonight’s fixture against First Division Sheffield Wednesday.
Wednesday have only made an average start to the season wining at home but losing away, however for the match tonight there is every chance that they will have as many supporters in the ground as the home side.
This isn’t a maximum bet by any stretch of the imagination but Wednesday at 11/2 with Coral look worth a puntinplay against a side who we think will be relegated from the Premier League this season.
