Tunde teams up with Warren

Stamina for Sale shapes the future

(First Published: Sunday 16th January 2011 at 19:22hrs GMT)

2011 may be in its infancy, but things are already moving quickly at the Peacock Gym as Tunde Ajayi, Carli Wheatley and the Stamina for Sale team waste no time in putting the wheels in motion for what promises to be a big year for the sport.

With an application to gain a promoters' license on its way to the British Boxing Board of Control's desk, a move that, if successful, will see the Stamina for Sale team forge a close partnership with Frank Warren Promotions, one that promises to shake up domestic boxing as we know it.
"Frank Warren and Stamina for Sale have a shared goal, to find and nurture the future stars of world boxing and give them the best possible chance to succeed, Tunde explained this week. Pending the approval of the BBBoC, Frank Warren and I will immediately start work on making that vision a reality".

"I've worked with a number of Frank's fighters as a coach and trainer over the last decade and have forged a strong working relationship with him. He was very impressed with what my team and I have achieved in such a short space of time and when the chance to work more closely with him was suggested, I jumped at it. Frank Warren is Mr Boxing himself; he has managed some of the biggest names in the sport's history, and brought some of the most memorable fights to British shores. His boxing knowledge is 3x that of anyone I have ever met and his business knowledge is second to none. From us, Mr Warren realises that he will be gaining a forward thinking, fresh and enthusiastic close knit team who are all passionate about the modernisation of boxing in this country. Our Camp 24 idea has really captured the imagination of everyone in the game and Frank has told me that he is very excited about developing it".

What we are doing in East London is unlike anything ever done before. Through Camp 24 we will be looking to find between 12 and 20 of the UK's hungriest and most talented young fighters to go on and enjoy a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with Warren Promotions. We aren't looking to take the winners of Camp 24 and simply get them in the ring and making money however, we will be a boxing school. Far too many young men have been thrown on the scrap heap over the years after calling time on their careers. That won't happen to our boys! All of the fighters connected with Stamina for Sale and Warren Promotions will be encouraged to gain skills outside of the ring, be that in personal training or education, skills that will allow them to make a living long after they have hung up their gloves".

With the wheels already in motion to create a Camp 24 series, that will see the Stamina for Sale team test the talents of Manchester in the spring before moving further afield, young fighters the length and breadth of Britain have never had a better chance to show that they can cut it in the dog eat dog world of professional boxing. With Tunde's assistance and Frank Warren's backing, the stars of tomorrow have a springboard to success, but surely the real winners here will be British boxing fans who can rest assured that their beloved sport is in safe hands.
