Tom Folan has been given an excellent chance by the handicapper to get back on the score sheet in the 6.30 at Kempton tonight.
Andrew Reid's charge is fairly consistent sort but has so far managed to score only once in eight starts.
That was in a Class 5 maiden at Haydock where he dead-heated with Duke of Rainford after overcoming a slow start.
That victory came off a rating of 72, and he was attempting to give 19lb to the Duke, who has since turned into a consistent performer and earned a mark of 55.
It's therefore interesting that Tom Folan gets into tonight's contest, a Class 6 contest, on a rating of just 65, which is below his last winning mark and very much expolotable given the fact that he ran far better than his finsihing position suggests last time out.
The very useful and highly talented Andrea Atzeni takes another 3lb off his back, and he looks cracking value at 15-2 in a wide open claimer. I cannot envisage him finishing out of the frame and he looks a rock solid bet to nothing.
Recommended bet: 3pts each-way Tom Folan (15-2 Paddy Power)
