Timeform have given Frankel a rating of 142 following his demoliton job in the Qipco Sussex Stakes at Goodwood today - a mark which confirms him as the best flat horse in the world.
Sir Henry Cecil's colt went into the contest off a rating of 141.
The new figure is higher than any other horse to have won the prestigious mile contest since Brigadier Gerard (rated 144 at his best) in 1971.
He is just 3lb below the highest-rated horse in Timeform history (145), that honour going to the mighty Sea Bird in 1965.
Sectional timings, hand held by the very experienced Michael Tanner, have also revealed that Frankel covered the last four furlongs in the mile contest, which he sauntered home by five lengths, in 11.16, 10.13, 11.46 and 12.03 seconds.
That's an incredible 42mph, and shows why Canford Cliffs could not live with him.
Good news for racing fans is that he is now likely to stay in training as a four-year-old.
Owner Khaled Abdullah said after today's breathtaking pefromance: "If Henry wants him for next season he can stay with him."
It;s not yet been confirmed where Frankel will be seen next, although it's understood that Cecil is favouring the colt having just one more run - in the QEII at Ascot - before being put away for a four-year-old campaign.
