Phil Taylor marked his first appearance of the season on the PDC tour with victory in the Players Championship in Derby on Saturday.
Taylor, an 8/15 shot at the outset, defeated fellow Premier League man Terry Jenkins in the final at Moorways Leisure Centre winning 42 out of the 48 legs he played on the day with Steve Evans, Mark Hylton, Petre Manley, Andy Hamilton, Co Stompe & Chris Thompson all put to the sword. Jenkins was a pre-tournament 33/1 outsider and followed up his unbeaten Premier League start with returns of 16/1 for each way backers.
Chris Mason celebrated his return to the tour by making the semi finals and defeating players of the calibre of Jelle Klaasen, Mark Webster, Gary Anderson, Simon Whitlock & Michael van Gerwen along the way.
The second UK Open qualifier takes place at the same venue tomorrow. Skybet once again make Taylor the 8/15 favourite in the 166 man field.
