Starluck is a top priced 16-1 for the Champion Hurdle after producing a superb display to win his prep race on the all-weather at Kempton tonight.
Alan Fleming's charge was sent off the 7-2 joint-favourite for the mile handicap and after travelling powerfully in the early stages looked to have plenty to do two furlongs from home.
But when Liam Keniry pulled him out and asked him to lengthen the response was immediate and Starluck quickly hit top gear to cut down the front running Gaily Noble and win by half a lnegth.
