ACCRINGTON STANLEY are the best bet of Tuesday evening at a general 8-11 when they take on struggling Barnet in League Two.
With six wins from their last seven outings, Stanley are the form team in the division, with boss John Coleman admitting his side are gearing up for a push for the play-offs. And why not. Coleman has put together an excellent squad on a shoestring budget, getting the best out of a bunch of players, most of whom have arrived at the club by way of free transfers or loam deals.
Take Michael Symes as an example. The former Everton trainee has had a succession of clubs since leaving Goodison Park, enjoying one okay season with Shrewsbury before he was shown the door in the summer after scoring just five goals in two season.
But since joining Stanley on a permanent basis following a loan spell last season, he has become one of the hottest properties in the division having so far scored 14 goals and has formed a terrific partnership up front alongside Robert Grant. The likes of John Miles, Jimmy Ryan and Luke Joyce have also blossomed at the Fraser Eagle Stadium and they look well on course to achieve their play-off goal.
Barnet on the other hand are in dire form, without a win in 14 games and the only side they have beaten in their last 20 is Darlington – twice – as they continue to tumble down the division towards the relegation trapdoor.
After Darlington, Ian Hendon's side have the worst away record in League Two, with 10 defeats in 13 games, and with Mark Hughes set to again deputise for Ismail Yakubu at the back, the writing is on the wall for the Bees.
ROTHERHAM are hoping to beat the cold snap and tackle Bournemouth and they look a decent proposition at 10-11 to win their third game in a row as they continue to play catch up with the sides around them.
They lost 1-0 at Dean Court in the reverse fixture, but Bournemouth are struggling injuries and look set to name a depleted squad again with Marvin Bartley now a doubt with leg problems and Rotherham should be too strong on home soil, well if you can call Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium home soil.
Lincoln City have only lost twice in their last seven trips to Hereford and I fancy them to bag a point at Edgar Street, at 5-2 with Skybet.
Hereford will have two key players missing as Ryan Valentine is suspended and Jamie Tolley is injured, while City have been boosted by the arrival of Rangers striker Steven Lennon on loan, although Nathan Baker and Brian Gilmour are injury worries for the Imps.
The Bulls have lost six of their last seven matches, with John Trewick's side falling into a relegation battle, but with both sides struggling in front of goal this could be a goalless stalemate – 10-1 sportingbet.
That just leaves CREWE versus Torquay, with Alex the tentative selection at even money.
