St Helens v Wigan

The last ever Super League home derby against Wigan to be played at the GPW Recruitment Stadium. Both teams enter this game in fine form. Wigan are enjoying one of their best starts to the season and the win against Leeds showed that they are the real deal this year. Their defence till date has been solid, again shown last weekend. And it looks as though St Helens have turned a corner after a nervy start to the season, proving that they can never be written off (11/10 was available on them to beat Huddersfield). The difference in points speaks for itself. Wigan have amassed a points difference of 174, while St Helens don’t come close with only a difference of 79. Figures like these stand for nothing in such meaningful games such as this. Warriors fans will have to cast their minds back to 2003 for their last win at Knowsley Road. This hasn’t been a happy hunting ground and the results show it, but neither had Warrington, and Wigan showed earlier this season that there was enough talent in their squad to grind out the win. Wigan get the head start in this match today. This is a new season and with it a Warriors team who can genuinely be classed as title contenders. Wigan to win the match is a best priced 17/10.
