Soderling Can Deliver

...end for Davydenko

(First Published: Friday 27th November 2009 at 17:40hrs GMT)

Robin Soderling may orginate from Sweden but he is more like the Danish team that qualified for the Euo Champs by default and then went on to win it. Andy Roddick is injured so in steps the big hitting Swede and promptly qualifies for a last four place.

He has been in great form this week and has a perfect record going into this game against Davydenko. There are of course concerns that he will ease off against the man from Volgograd but at puntinplay we think they are unfounded.

They have a 6-3 scoreline when it comes to the head to head stakes, in Soderlings favour, but when it comes to the hard stuff it is levels you devils. However, this form line goes back five years and we are most interested in the recent history. On this score there is only one choice, given the market prices, Robin Soderling. In five of the last six meetings the boy Robin has won and there is a similar stat for first set advantage with Soldering winning five from six.

He doesn't have the incentive that Davydenko has in terms of qualification but he has a twelve zip record against Federer whilst he is all square with Del Boy. We will let you decide on that one.

We fancy Soderling to win the match so the +1.5 games gives us a bit of security at 1.83, (5/6 in old money). Given his first set record he should be around a 1.3 chance so the 1.9 on the washing line and the 1.97 with Betfair also looks interesting.  We will stick with the handicap but next in would be a first set win for the Swede.

Davydenko hasn't shortened as much as we thought earlier in the week, there is a profit from the 25/1 advice and we think he will be Volgograd bound in the morning.  Trade.
