As I reported earlier in the week John Bentley had got two out of three of the Six nations results right after sticking his neck out for a Scotland Victory last Saturday.
His score predictions had been close, and would have been closer had there not been a couple of unfortunate, unforeseeable moments which turned the game.
On reflection, we both agreed how very difficult it is to predict the margin of a rugby result. We have all heard, on many occasions, that a final score didn’t properly reflect how close the game was.
As in any sport, a couple of lucky moments can change the face of a game
He confessed that, in his opinion, Scotland were poor and the French won without having to dig too deep.
Ireland, John’s tip for the Six Nations Championship, have come safely through their first game. However, he prefers to wait till after this weekend before making any more assessments of their Championship potential
He went on to call for England to build on their performance and praised them for keeping the ball in hand more than he had predicted. Bentos just felt that there were occasions when they should have given earlier wide ball. He was pleased with how they fared and was looking forward to seeing what the win will do for their confidence this weekend.
Johns tips for the weekend games to follow Friday evening.
