The Scottish cup returns this weekend as eight sides battle it out for a place in the semi-finals.
After enjoying an incredible first half of the season, the wheels have fallen off at Hibs but the capital outfit remain in the hunt for their first Scottish cup triumph in well over a century, with Ross County providing the opposition.
County have been mightily impressive this term, remaining in the first division title race but it has been the Staggies away form which has left them short, winning only four times without the comforts of their Victoria Park home. Despite their lofty standings County have won only once since September and that kind of form wont be good enough to progress here.
John Hughes men haven’t suffered defeat at Easter Road since a festive loss at the hands of Rangers and the SPL side should have the fitness and class to be in the hat come Monday at 6/17 (Expekt.com).
The Dundee board have invested heavily in their playing staff of late and it appears to be paying dividends with the dark blues leading the way in division one whilst enjoying an extended cup run.
Whilst Dundee have been pushing for promotion, opponents Raith Rovers have continued to flirt with relegation and considering Jocky Scott’s men took an earlier league fixture between the two, their big earners should take a giant stride towards a Hampden holiday for their fans with victory here. It was way back in 1995 when Rovers last outscored Dundee, meaning the 4/7 (William Hill) about a home win certainly merits interest.
In Saturday’s league fixtures, Terry Butcher’s Inverness can close the gap at the top with a win over relegation contenders Greenock Morton. The Ton have been disappointing since James Grady took charge and in their current form, Caley’s 4/7 (Bet365) must be trusted.
Down in Scottish football’s bottom tier, Livingstone should be backed to extend their unbeaten run to nine games. The Lions hammered Elgin 6-1 away from home earlier in the campaign and can record another convincing victory over City at 5/11 (Coral).
