The final play-off game takes place today with Ronnie Moore seeking to confirm his status as a Rotherham legend in this afternoon's game against Dagenham and Redbridge.
Big Ron returned to the South Yorkshire club in September for his second spell in charge. He had been away from home for nearly five years. In his first spell in charge he guided the unfashionable Millers to back to back promotions from the third tier to the Championship. he then succeeded in keeping them in that division for four years.
Rotherham made the final with a comfortable victory over Aldershot but all four teams finished in a heap in the division and there is likely to be very little between the sides in today's final.
Dagenham and Redbridge have been on an incredible journey for the last ten years. A decade ago they were mid-table in the Ryman league. If they win today they could be going head to head against former Premier league sides such as Southampton,Charlton and Wednesday.
Terry Harris told this weeks press gathering they were confident
"We qualified as the seventh and last-placed side, but there was only one point between all four sides. You only have to see what Blackpool achieved last weekend (in the Championship play-off final) to see that the lowest-placed side are never at a disadvantage. In fact, there is a real run of success for lowest-placed sides.''
Both sides have only one injury doubt from the semi-final success but the experience of Ronnie Moore combined with the fact that the whole squad attended yesterdays final means that an puntinplay we give Rotherham the edge. However they may need more than 90 minutes to do it so whilst we think Rotherham are the bet for promotion the draw is the 90 minutes option.
