Ricky Whittle is the clear favourite going into this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing Final, with Betfair customers making him odds on at 8-11 to win the show.
The Hollyoaks star will go head-to-head with Chris Hollins for the ballroom crown, and after what has been a tumultuous few weeks, success for the 28-year-old would be undoubtedly sweet.
After his arrest on Merseyside three weeks ago, punters and the public had appeared to lose faith in Whittle, who despite his consistent string of splendid performances had seen his price to win drift rapidly from odds-on to as long as 7-1.
That resulted in Chris Hollins grasping the favourite tag, yet since qualifying for the final last week, the BBC presenter’s odds to triumph have gone from 5-6 to 11-8.
Betfair spokesman Ari Last said: “Ricky has undoubtedly been the best dancer throughout and having seemed to have regained the public’s trust, our punters are confident he’ll now win the show.”
