Manchester United are second-favourites at 2.64 on Betfair to win the Champions League after putting in one of their very best performances of the season to win 2-0 away to Schalke.
During the first half they created enough chances to be two or three goals up with Javier Hernandez particularly guilty of not capitalising, though goalkeeper Manuel Neuer did also make some top-class saves to keep United’s forwards at bay.
In the end it was Ryan Giggs who broke the deadlock after the evergreen winger was matched as high as 25.0 to open the scoring. Wayne Rooney added a second and there was no way back for Schalke in this match. With United currently trading at 1.02, there’s probably no way back for them in the tie either.
United were matched at a high of 2.8 to win the game and at 15.0 to win 2-0. Sir Alex Ferguson’s troops were backed at a high of 19.5 to win this competition during the early rounds and Barcelona or Real Madrid await them in the final unless something very out of the ordinary happens in the second leg. Barca are the 1.6 favourites to get through.
