They may have torn up the form book again to avoid the dreaded bottom two, but at 18-1, John and Edward Grimes are still major outsiders to win X Factor on Betfair, and are already the second favourites to be eliminated next weekend (9-4).
The twins went into round six odds-on to be plunged into another sing-off, yet their somewhat inspired performance of Queen’s ‘Under Pressure’ - a fitting song choice - reclaimed the public vote and kept them in the show for another week.
However, unlike the last time they surprisingly survived, punters have been slow to put their money behind the duo, who they seemingly feel are living on borrowed time.
Instead, they’ve been quick to install Stacey Solomon as the new second favourite to win the show, with the last remaining female contestant now priced at 3-1, just behind long-term front runner Olly Murs (12-5).
Betfair spokesman Ari Last said: "In the aftermath of previous Jedward survivals our customers have shown a belief that an unlikely triumph was on the cards, with their odds dropping to as low as 7-1, yet this time things are markedly different.
"There appears to be too much real talent on display, and it is now the twins’ rivals, particularly Stacey Solomon, who are the focus of Betfair punters’ cash."
