On the build up t the Internationals taking place this weekend the Johnston’s Paint Trophy will take centre stage. This event is restricted to teams in division one and two and was won last year by Southampton.
They are favourites for the Trophy again but the club looks to be in a spot of bother as the finance man behind the team has recently departed (literally) and Alan Pardew has been sacked on the back of a four nil victory against Bristol Rovers.
For the bigger sides the event will not be a distraction because the final can be a real money spinner and we like two against the filed in this year’s competition.
Peterborough have made a satisfactory start to the season and under Gary Johnson they do well this season. At 16/1 with Skybet they look tempting.
Another team who were relegated and have made a good start to the season are Sheffield Wednesday and they will welcome a strong run in the competition. At 11/1 with Bet365 they look far more tempting than the 6/1 currently on offer about the Saints. We would recommend a small puntinplay on both sides.
