The Rugby World Cup kicks off in New Zealand tomorrow and we are guaranteed about six week’s top quality early morning Sports entertainment.
New Zealand as you can imagine are the odds on jollies and with home advantage they must have a great chance. As has been well documented they haven’t won the event since its inception in 1987 and in some quarters they have gone into the chocker category. This year they have the advantage of a tougher qualifying group as they will get match tough in the game against France. They are passed over more on value rather than the fact that they will choke again.
Australia, South Africa and France will all have their admirers but it maybe a tournament to soon for the Aussies and tournament to far for South Africa and lets be honest we never really know what French side are going to turn for any given game let alone any given tournament. England don’t look good enough and Ireland has had a build up that can only be described as disastrous.
Of the outsiders there is one team that do look to represent value and that is Samoa. The Rugby World sat down and checked the result when they beat Australia in July and they have the basis of a very fair side when all the players from around the globe are in the same place at the same time. Kahn Fotuali’i is a quality scrum half and winger Alesana Tuilagi topped the Premiership charts last season and has bagged 12 in 23 tests.
This side is no 300/1 (300+ Betfair) shot and this could be a good trading position. At puntinplay we fancy them to make the quarter final at the expense of Wales. Ladbrokes make the Samoans a 4/1 chance to qualify. Back them at the 300/1 mark for a potential trade (they could be as low as 66/1 if they make the last eight) and to qualify for the last eight.
