Fresh from a record eleventh World Matchplay title, Phil Taylor and the rest of the PDC elite head to Dinslaken in Germany for this weekend’s televised PDC European Darts Championship.
Taylor, winner of the event in both of its years so far and 1/2 to do so again, secured his latest Matchplay triumph courtesy of an 18-12 victory over rival Raymond van Barneveld at the Winter Gardens on Sunday and is in first round action tonight against Blackpool quarter finalist Co Stompe.
Van Barneveld (8/1) opens his campaign against world number eleven Andy Hamilton whilst other market leaders James Wade (10/1) & Simon Whitlock (14/1) play Colin Lloyd & Dennis Priestley respectively.
32 arrowsmiths (the top 16 from the PDC rankings, the top 8 from the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit & the top 8 from the PDC European Order of Merit) will compete over a straight knockout format, culminating in Sunday’s final over the best of 21 legs. All the action will be televised live on Bravo.
