Aidan O'Brien has outlined his team for the StanJames.com Guineas, and Steinbeck has been ruled out of the race.
The Ballydole handler has revealed that the unbeaten brilliant winner of the Racing Post Trophy, St Nicholas Abbey, Dewhurst one-two Beethoven and Fencing Master, and Viscount Nelson as his likely representavies for the classic.
But as well as Steinbeck, the unbeaten Cape Blanco, Criterium winner Jan Vermeer and Alfred Nobel are all likely to miss the race.
O'Brien told his website, www.aidanobrien.ie: "Our most likely runners for the StanJames.com 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday May 1 will hopefully come from the following horses; St Nicholas Abbey, Viscount Nelson, Fencing Master and Beethoven.
"It is unfortunate that Steinbeck is going to miss the StanJames.com 2000 Guineas.
"He has done really well and we are very excited about him. Hopefully he will restart in the Abu Dhabi Irish 2000 Guineas on Saturday May 22 at the Curragh."
