There are eight races live on Sky tonight from Wimbledon, culminating in the Puppy Derby Final at 9.45. As always, it is a competitive card at Wimbledon, but I'm sure we can continue our good run this evening.
7.40, 480m - this is a race for puppies, and although they can be unpredictable, Droopys Master for Seamus Cahill in trap 1 can get us off to a good start, as being the first leg of a double which pays over 2/1 if you shop around (see selections below). He is drawn on the fence in a field of five railers and one middle seed and should have plenty of room as Jolly Rumble in trap 2 will move off slightly. The even money available, although being short, is a bet for me, and this son of Droopy Vieri can open his account at the ninth attempt. His recent 28.78 trial round here, after taking a bump, looks way too good for his rivals.
8.35, 687m - this is a cracking six-bend event which sees the return to action of top stayer Lorries Options after a long break. His 29.74 trial at Hove proves his well-being, however, he may just need the run this evening. The pace setters tonight should be Corrig Vieri in trap 2 and He Went Whoosh in trap 5. Better drawn of the two appears to be the former for Mark Wallis, with slow starting Mustang Beauty on his inside and Lauries Options on his outer. Once on the bunny Corrig Vieri will be very difficult to peg back. Take the 3/1 with Ladbrokes or Stan James.
8.50, 480m - another competitive heat, where, at first glance, the 4/1 available about Adageo in trap 6 looks tempting. He has recently fared well stepping up to Romford's 575m trip, however, Westmead Osprey (nap) in trap 1 has a plot draw inside slow starting Jackdaw Summer. A cracking run last time at Swindon over 509m should have put him spot on. If Osprey is on the bunny, all eyes will be focused on Adageo's position down the far side. For forecast players I thought these stood out as a reverse forecast. Osprey can be backed at 5/2 with Sponsors William Hill.
9.10, 480m - this is a race for bitches, where Special Liberty in trap 1 and Pine Isle in trap 2 will vie for favouritism. Droopys Start in trap 3, a good winner on Sky at Hove last week, could exploit any crowding on the inside with a customary late flourish. However, Tony Collett's fast-starting Lenson Maymay has a plot draw as the sole wide seed. Her 28.81 trial last week and her season date 23rd April could put her spot on for this. A big 5/1 is freely available.
9.25, 894m - although not well drawn in trap 5, Taylors Riviera, 8/11 with VC, should have enough pace to grab a rails slot around the first circuit, and with no Midway Skipper on the scene she looks a class apart, especially with question marks about most of the others. Put her in a double with Droopys Master.
9.45, 480m - The Puppy Derby final has a top class field of youngsters, despite one of the best pups, Droopys Oscar failing to make the decider. But Seamus Cahill has a big player in Raving Giovanni in trap 4. A case can be made for most of these finalists, however I take Mark Wallis' Blonde Snapper to land the £6000 purse. If he traps in his best fashion from the 5 box, he can steal a march on his rivals. But he can do it both ways and if turning handy he will put in a big challenge all the way to the line. Take the 2/1 with Blue Square.
