Fernando Verdasco the second seed is out in the first round of the Memphis Open. He went down to a straight sets defeat to Frenchman Jeremy Chardy. This really opens up the bottom half of the draw and the giant John Isner is now down to a 6 chance in some books this morning.

Isner, our pre-tournament tip, takes on Jarrko Nieminen for a place in the last eight this evening and at 1.33 he should be included in all your tennis accumulators. He has a head to head advantage and although rankings can be the road to the poor house, Isner is more than a 100 spots clear of the 28 year old from Finland. He should go in again tonight and set up a possible clash with fellow tall bloke Ivo Karlovic.
