Menorah caused a 12-1 upset when battling on bravely to deny Get Me Out of Here and the odds-on favourite Dunguib in a thrilling Supreme Novices' Hurdle.
Richard Johnson alwayd had Phillip Hobbs' charge in the right position at the right time, in stark contrast to Brian O'Connell who gave Dunguib a terrrible ride.
The Irishman had the 4-5 favourite way too far back for virtually the whole of the journey and made his move that wide that he was almost in the car park.
He had an enormous amount of ground to make up between the last two hurdles and would have had to have been pegasus to make it up in what looked a slowly run race.
It was an amateur ride in a professional race and cost his supporters dear.
But take nothing away from the winner who kept finding extra under a superb ride from Johnson to repel that late challenge of Get Me Out Of Here under a power packed finish from Tony McCoy.
It was a first win in the contest for Hobbs, who could not hide his delight.
"I couldn't believe how green the horse was running two from home, and it's a good job Dickie Johnson poached a lead when he did as we would have lost in another 50 yards.
"It was Fantastic. He's only five and at this stage my early thoughts for next year would be the Champion Hurdle."
Botyleports go a top price 12-1 about the winner for the 2011 Champion Hurdle, with the general price on offer 10s and Stan James going just 8s.
The runner-up is available at 12s, whilst Dunguib is 10s.
