McCoy booked to ride Forpady in Queen Mother

(First Published: Monday 1st March 2010 at 12:08hrs GMT)

Tony McCoy has been booked to ride Forpadydeplasterer in the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Barry Geraghty partnered Tom Cooper's charge to glory in the Arkle 12 months ago and despite being on board in a gallop after racing at Leopardstown on Sunday, he has informed Cooper he will be unavailable at the Festival.

He is committed to partnering Nicky Henderson's Petit Robin, and second claim on him goes to Colm Murphy who has Big Zeb in the line-up.

Forpady is currently a top priced 16-1 for the Queen Mother with Hills, although Blue Square go just 8s after the news that McCoy will be in the saddle.

Pady's trainer Tom Cooper was delighted with the way he went in yesterday's schooling session at Leopardstown, where he put in some spectacular leaps on ground too soft for him.

He said: "Barry has told me he won't be riding so we've booked Tony McCoy. I was delighted with how he jumped on Sunday, he put in some mighty leaps so he must be feeling well in himself.

"Also, he won't have been mad about that ground as everybody knows and by the looks of it, it should be a lot better ground at Cheltenham. We'll take him away for one more bit of work somewhere early next week."
