Machu Picchu is finally being given a chance by the handicapper and looks a tempting bet at 100-30 in the 3.25 at Ffos Las today.
The eight-year-old was winner over hurdles and fences in France before joining Jonjo O'Neill and caught the eye on his first two starts at Bangor-on-Dee and Cheltenham where he was not knocked about and ran far better than his finishing position suggested.
He then ran a stinker last time out but is now rtried in new headgear plus a tongue tie for the first time.
Given the fact that his trainer is now in far better form, and that he is now running off a mark 12lb lower than what he started his career in this country there are good grounds to believe that he could now be ready to score.
French imports often take time to acclimatise, and the handicapper often initially overburdens them on the handicap front because he cannot translate the French form and eres on the side of caution.
Looking at his French form, I think that Machu Piccu is now on about the right mark and with Tony McCoy in the saddle he looks worth a punt at 100-30
Recommended bet: 5pts win Macchu Picchu (100-30 Totesport, Victor Chandler)
