This week the European Tour heads off to Malaysia for, yes you've guessed it, the Malaysian Open. With many off the household names from the European Tour staying in America this week, the turnout for this tournament isn't the greatest, but that doesn't mean we can't find value in the tournament. That value could lie with Chris Wood. The big hitting Englishman has excellent credentials for this tournament and with some more higher profile Asian players above him in the betting he can be had at an excellent price.
Firstly Wood has the game to suit this course, being long off the tee is a big advantage on this course. where the final hole is a staggering 634yds. Secondly Wood is in tremendous form having three top 25 finishes in his last four tournaments, the one time he finished outside of the top 25 was in the WGC Accenture Matchplay two weeks ago, where he was beaten in the first round by fellow Englishman Lee Westwood. These tournaments also consisted of much better players than Wood is going to encounter this week. And finally Wood is well rested, with there not being a European Tour event last week, Wood has had plenty of time to recover from his exertions in the desert two weeks ago.
