Mallorey makes his first venture into handicap company in the 2.30 at Huntingdon and looks worth a wager at 9-1.
The four-year-old has only had three runs over the obstacles and really caught the eye when keeping on well to finish third to Anak at Kempton.
The winner and the runner-up Ciceron are both useful types, and the selection would probably have finished closer if he hadn't clattered through the second last.
He then failed to build on that effort when running disappointingly behind Hunterview at Warwick, but that was a decent race and the switchback to a right handed track could be the key to him getting his head in front.
Huntingdon is very similar to Kempton, and if he can run anywhere near the form he showed behind Anak then he would have a huge chance off a mark of 104.
The more than capable Bernie Wharfe, who partnered him at Kempton, takes a useful 3lb off his back, and in a contest main full of exposed and disappointing types he is the potential improver who could have sneaked under the radar.
I had him in on my tissue at around 6-1, so at the 9s on offer he looks cracking each-way value.
Recommended bet: 3pts each-way Mallorey (9-1 Sky Bet, Betfred, Stan James, Hills)
