The Select Stakes at 9.45 is the highlight on the card at Nottingham this evening live on Sky. On a difficult card I have selected three runners to give us a nice return to boost our bank ahead of tomorrow's Champion Stakes.
7.40, 500m - Vatican Seamus has been impressive with a couple of wins at Swindon recently, but may have Hesley Dingo to contend with early on. Milly Marina has performed well at Shelbourne in the Irish Derby and meets nothing of that calibre here. This big gallop should suit Andy Clarke's runner and Milly Marina can get us off to a good start. 4/1 is freely available.
8.35, 680m - Fatboyz Diva ran well at Monmore when chasing home Dessies Blueboy, and will start favourite. However, Fabulous Mind will be the selection. She has run well over the trip recently, finishing second on both occasions, beaten by Beautiful City. If she can secure a clear run on the first circuit she can put her staying ability to good use. 3/1 is freely available.
9.25, 730m - this is a cracking staying race with Midway Skipper starting favourite for Henry Chalkley. I am loathe to desert this brilliant bitch, but at the prices I am willilng to take a chance with Beautiful City. Terry Munslow's bitch has been off a while, and her season date the 3rd of May could see her approaching her best as long as her recent trial on going rated -100 hasn't taken its toll. We will need a bit of luck as she is up against class runners in the form of Capel Yankee, Midway Skipper, Lorrys Options, Ten Dollars More and Carbarns Tom. 8/1 is freely available.
9.45, The Select Stakes - sponsors Betfred have a cracking line-up for the Select Stakes over 500m, where Blue Artisan is a short priced favourite. He has pace on his inner in the form of Ballymac Ace which sways me towards Sussex Cup winner Hed Iton Ellis. Steve Race's runner is a jealous dog on the bunny, and I take him to make all from the coffin box. Take the 9/2 with Blue Square.
