Champion Stakes Final 575m, 9.45
We are sitting pretty once again approachng a big night with our two ante post picks Raving Black, put up as a maximum each way bet at 5/1, and Cernturion Enry each way at 20/1, safely through to the final. They now trade at a best price of 7/2 and 11/2 respectively, and I fully expect them to both be in the first four to land the each way bets, furthermore, Raving Black can win this final for Seamus Cahill. He ran a blinder in the semis to pass rivals to claim the runner up spot, and he is coming back to something like his best. Centurion Enry has only recently returned from a lay off and trainer Paul Young said he is happy with his progress following his break. We have two strong stayers on our side against dogs who have to lead, and as we know there can only be one leader! If Raving Black turns handy, he can reel in the dog in front for Champion Stakes glory.
8.00 - 925m. These events over two and a half laps are run at Romford about as often as an M.P submits an honest expense claim! With the dogs on the turn all the time around the tight track, it could pay to side with a dog who is proven around here. Killishin Masai fits the bill having won a couple of 750m events here. Chris Kymes runner can be backed at 6/4 with Stan James. It does look a two dog affair with Droopys Song the main rival.
8.35 - 575m. This maiden final throws up the best bet of the night and Ricky Holloway's Razldazl Zamba can land the nap. Droopys Master is favourite in trap 2, and is a big player. however if he gets in behind dogs he can be slightly clumsy. The selection run a stormer last week only to fail by the minimum margin, and his recent defeat of Droopys Comedian had the form franked in no uncertain terms when Comedian bolted up in 29.52 at Hove on Sunday. Mr Paddy Power go 11/4, nice!
10.05 - 400m. Droopys Tajmahal has a great make-up in the pinging trap 3 and can land this in style. He pulled right away from his rivals last week when clocking 24.18, and should follow up here for Chris Allsopp. He has a great chance of leading and has time in hand on the clock. Christmas has come early he will go off nearer evens. Fill your boots at 2/1 with the sponsors Coral, who have Ballymac Denis in trap 1 favourite at 7/4. A Hall Green dog in red without a look around here, no thankyou!
10.40 - 750m. Recent Champagne Club purchase Bubbly Blues, (ex Sparkling Blues) looks head and shoulders above his rivals and should send favourite backers home with huge smiles and pockets full with cash. His 47.51 over the trip back on 30th July proves he can run this track. Admittedly it was a three dog affair but he drew right away from his rivals. Coral were 4/5, now 4/6, so stick him in a double with Droopys Tajmahal. But if you fancy lumping on a single, again this will start shorter on the night!
Selections:
8.00 Killishin Masai 6/4
8.35 Razldazl Zamba 11/4 (nap)
10.05 Droopys Tajmahal 2/1 & Bubbly Blues 4/6 in a Double with Coral.
