LEEDS UNITED V SWANSEA

LEEDS TO KEEP CLEAN SHEET ?

(First Published: Saturday 11th September 2010 at 01:13hrs GMT)

Leeds entertain Swansea on Saturday 11th September 2010 in a Championship contest between two sides who are potentiial play off contenders.

Leeds have made a solid start to the second tier and for most clubs newly promoted from  league 1 consolidation is a reasonable goal. However this is Leeds, the shadow of Don Revie and the side he lead from the old second division is still to date the unachievable benchmark for a club which  apart from the League Championship win in the 1990/1991 season, last won silverware as champions in1974.

Most pundits would view Leeds as clear favourites, but as the Elland Road faithful will confirm nothing is certain when it comes to Leeds United.

Since beating Man Utd in the FA Cup at the turn of the year, they have struggled for consistency and their main problems are in defence. Richard Naylor has been both hero and villain in successive matches , scoring an own goal against Millwall, but getting the winner in their last outing against Watford. In my view his defensive perfomances are far from convincing and if Simon Grayson is to challenge for the play off's this year he needs to find an alternative to this honest, but limited defender, regardless of the fact he is club Captain.

Going into Saturdays game, Leeds will be full of confidence while Swansea have yet to record a point or even a goal on their travels.

I also expect a Leeds win, but it will not be straight forward, Leeds have shown a habbit of dominating their home games only to be caught on the break ( that leaky defence again ) . So don't be surprised to see them going a goal down in the first half , but turning it round in the second through goals from David Somma and Luciano Becchio.

Prediction : Half time: Leeds 0 Swansea 1, Full Time Leeds 2 Swansea  1
