Wolfsberg A Lay Today

(First Published: Sunday 24th January 2010 at 12:51hrs GMT)

Earlier in the season we described Wolfsberg as the schizophrenic team of the Bundesliga. Just recently they seem more predictable, they tend not to win.

Last years Champions won seventeen from 18 at home but this season at the half way stage they have already lost four at the Volkswagen Arena. The Wolves have lost or drawn 66% of their home games and haven't won on home soil since they beat the team with the long name on the 18th October.

To make matters worse the boss is under pressure, and if that wasn't enough he knows he is under pressure. This is what he said at the press conference this week.

"Of course when you are in the position we are in now and then you start (the year) with a defeat, such criticism and speculation starts to arise,It is absolutely normal in this business. As the responsible coach, I have just got to win and be able to cope with the pressure. However, I can have fundamentally no influence over these things and so I am not dealing with them. All I am thinking about is our next game and our aim is to win against Cologne on Sunday. We are fighting to get round the corner and we now need results to do that.''

Armin Veh,the coach, may have already lost the dressing room. If he has the matches tend to follow shortly behind. We could be wrong but we think there is a strong case for laying Wolfberg at around the 1.5 mark today and for the more adventurous you may want to take advantage of over show on FC Koln.

For a team in 14th place Koln have a very fair road record. In eight away games they have only conceded 4 goals. They have won two and drawn four and the last time they left an opposition stadion empty was six games ago against Hamburg.

As has been well documented FC Koln don't score many and the goals for column replicates the goals against at four a piece. 50% of away games have finished 0-0 and another 25% have only had a single goal to either side. The 17 available for a zip-zip is outstanding value.

FC Koln are without Podolski, who has managed a goal for Koln this season and hopefully leading scorer (4 goals) Novakovic will be available following a virus. At 7.5 to win the game they are to big but we have to go draw or lay Wolfsberg depending on your religion.
