The final event of the European Tour takes place in Dubai from Thursday through to Sunday and as it is a new track we don't have any detailed form guide based on course performance. We do know that the 25 year old from Düsseldorf, Martin Kaymer, will be fresher than most and he is a strong selection to win.
During the summer Kaymer was on a streak. The 2007 rookie of the year, won the French Open and then went back to back by winning the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond. He couldn't land the hat-trick but finished just outside the top thirty in the Open. After a sixth place in the US PGA Kaymer, who is a keen karting fan, had an enforced summer break, due to his hobby resulting in four broken bones in his left foot.
The German was off the track until October but he has made a more than satisfactory return to action. His comeback in the Volvo was nothing to write to Düsseldorf about but on his next two runs he finished second to Michael Jonzon in the Castello Masters in Spain, where he shot four sub-seventy rounds and lost by one shot and most recently at the HSBC Champions in Shanghai, where he finished joint sixth behind Phil the Mick. He was in good company as he shared the slot with Tiger man.
He swerved Hong Kong last week and was the first to check into Dubai on Sunday, we don't think he has been spending time watching films in his nine star hotel.Kaymer may not win the top spot on the overall tour but we give him a great shout this week and at 14/1 he looks very strong each way value to sign of the season in style.
