Thirty six dogs go to traps at Belle Vue for tonight's Stan James Laurels over 470m. On the back of our ante post success when landing first and third in Romford's Champion Stakes, I feel we can invest shrewdly with two runners in the Laurels. The first thing I always look for in the ante post market is a runner who looks to have an easy first round passage, and then hope for luck in the draw.
Jordansoilutions is begging to be backed at 9/1 ( from 10/1) with Paddy Power. Winner of the select stakes this son of Aussie legend, Brett Lee, who sadly passed away last month, sparkled in a recent two dog trial over C&D when clocking 27.62 and handing out a 4 1/2 length beating to Slick Citi, who then went on to 'do the clock ' over two bends at Sheffield on Tuesday. Charlie Lister's dog will need to look lively as the traps go up, but should hold too many guns for his rivals. I take him to make all from the blue jacket tonight in heat 3 at 8.40.
There is a dearth of wide seeds in the competition, and last year's Laurel heroine Sunoak Crystal goes in trap 6 in heat 5, however, she comes up against Bucks Yahoo and Was Not Me in a tricky heat, so I cannot be with her to retain her title. A value selection at 20/1 with VC is Elwick Chris who wears red in heat 6 at 9.40. Having seen him hold his pitch around the first couple of bends at Sheffield recently, he can do the same here around this tricky circuit, then open up down the far side to take this heat in style. I suggest we back both our selections each way a quarter the odds first four places.
Ante post selections:

Elwick Chris e/w 20/1 with VC
