Ballymac William, our ante post selection for the Sussex Cup, just failed to make the bend to land our 4/1 bet, but let's not take anything away from game winner Head Iton Elllis, who made all in a thrilling final, holding on from Deanridge Rage to land the £10,000 prize for connections. However, we landed our double when good things Kildallon Bound ran a stormer to get up, and Champion sprinter Jimmy Lollie added yet another victory to his portfolio.
We were on Midway Skipper at 3/1 who made every yard in the marathon to defeat Taylors Riviera. Our other two selections ran creditably filling the runner up spot. Sizzlers Spirit had no answer to Junior Mac's track record-breaking performance over the sticks, and Bubbly Sally led until the final bend over the 740m trip. At least we made a profit on the evening.
I will be keeping a close eye on the Irish Derby entries, where we shall be looking to have a couple of ante post picks for the event at Shelbourne Park in August.
