It's quarter-final day at the World Indoor Bowls Championship today and this afternoon's match between
GREG HARLOW and three-time world champion Paul Foster has all the makings of a classic.
With 12 seeds dumped out of the competition by the last eight stage, Tour veterans Harlow and Foster have managed to come through unscathed, with both these players surely now confident of reaching the final.
The bookmakers can hardly separate the pair, with Foster a best price of 5-6 with bet365 and William Hill, while Harlow is 11-10 with Betfred.
Harlow progressed at the expense of Aussie teenager Ben Twist yesterday in straight sets and while he wasn't exactly all guns firing he did enough to win comfortably. Foster, meanwhile, was very lucky in overcoming Darren Burnett with his opponent not at all happy in defeat having played the better bowls of the pair.
Foster is the best player in the world at the moment, but sometimes he doesn't entirely convince (and that's not very often), while Harlow has yet to make his mark in the top event, although he has won the International Open, Scottish Open and World Matchplay title and is a man for the big occasion.
I reckon Foster used up a fair bit of luck against his fellow Scotsman and I fancy the chances of City of Ely star Harlow, who was my pre-tournament tip for the title and he can prevail at Potters this afternoon as he seems to play better when faced with a tough opponent.
