Wogan, the game winner of the Grimthorpe Chase at Doncaster, will miss the Cheltenham Festival in favour of a possible trip to Aintree.
Nicky Henderson's 10-year-old spent 19 months on the sidelines with injury, and owner Peter Deal is keen to give him a break before his next outing.
"I was absolutely thrilled with him and he seems to be better than ever at the moment. He won't go to Cheltenham, but we might look at Aintree if we can find a suitable race for him," the owner told Attheraces.
"He's a horse who has had little niggly leg problems but you have to remain patient with them and hope that nature finds the cure. Nicky has done a fine job to get him back and he has been running well all season.
"The good ground at Doncaster obviously suits him well and we'll have to have a good think about where we go next with him. We have plenty of time to have a think, although we obviously can't hang around forever with him as he is a 10-year-old now.
"I don't think we'll be stepping him up in class too much as he is a handicapper. The veterans' races are also a good opportunity for him."
