Some cracking action at Ascot today and Genki looks the outstanding bet on the card at 7/2 in the big sprint at 3.15.
Roger Charlton's seven-year-old has looked as good as ever this season despite his advancing years and has run two cracking races in Group 1 company on his last two starts.
The first of those came in the n Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville where he finished fourth to Moonlight Cloud, and he followed that up with an excellent close up fourth to Dream Ahead in the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock.
The seven-year-old was beaten just 1 1/2 lengths that day, running on strongly having been forced to challenge wide of the main group and not getting as much cover as he would have liked.
That is by far the best form on offer in this Group 3 contest which is a marked drop in class for Genki.
The gelding has his ideal conditions, is officially rated 4lb and upwards clear of his rivals and should also get the race run to suit.
Everything looks in place for a huge run, and it will be disappointing if he does not take advantage of a glorious winning opportunity.
At 7/2 he looks tremendous value.
Recommended bet: 4pts win Genki (7/2 generally available - BOG firms)
