What a difference a week makes. Hull started the season in great fashion having defeated St Helens and Huddersfield in the weeks previous. Last week they travelled to Wrexham to face Crusaders but failed to capitalise on any chances and thus gave the Welsh team their first back to back Super League success. This week should be a different story however as the Black and Whites entertain Harlequins at the KC Stadium with the action live on Sky Sports 3 at 20:00. Sean Long missed last week’s defeat through a hamstring injury and is also sidelined tonight. Hull certainly missed their leader against Crusaders and they looked open without him. The ex St Helens star is a man of great capability and without doubt one of the best kickers in the game today.
The Quins also haven’t had the best start to the season. They were ‘thrown to the Wolves’ in their first game of the season as Warrington demolished them 58-0, and last week were defeated at home by Wakefield. Their only two points of the season came from a win at home to Catalans in round 2. That aside, they are a team that many under-estimate and they won over half of their away games last season in Super League.
In the past 4 years Harlequins have picked up a brace of wins when travelling to Hull, and without Sean Long pulling the strings tonight they could find it hard tonight, which is why the Harlequins +12 (various) looks a little enticing and could well be worth a small punt.
Tonight’s other fixtures are Wigan v Catalans, Salford v Bradford and St Helens v Wakefield.
