Forte Dei Marmi seems to have been found a nice opportunity to register his first Listed success in the 3.20 at Goodwood and makes plenty of appeal at 4-1.
Luca Cumani's gelding improved throughout last season, winning for of his six starts including a valuable handicap at Newbury where he overcame all sorts of trouble in running before showing a good turn of foot to get up from an impossible position and score by a neck.
He has yet to score in two outings this year, but his stable's runners have been slow to come to hand and he shaped as if nearing his peak whne an excellent third to Await The Dawn in the Group 3 Huxley Stakes at Chester last time out.
The son of Selkirk had no chance with the impressive winner but kept on well under hands and heels to finish a staying on third to be beaten five lengths.
Given that Aidan O'Brien believes Await The Dawn is a Group 1 performer it was a solid performance, and I suspect that it will have sharpened him up considerably and put him spot on for this.
At 4-1 he looks rock solid, and can provide the in-form Kieren Fallon with another winner.
Recommended bet: 3pts win Forte Dei Marmi (4-1 generally available - BOG firms)
