Katrina Hodge, better known as Miss England 2009, is a massive 199-1 on Betfair to win the Miss World contest in Johannesburg tomorrow.
The 22-year-old from Tunbridge Wells finds herself well behind in the betting and looks set to come home empty-handed. Miss Scotland could fare better, currently 49-1, but if the betting is anything to go by Miss Wales (229-1) and Miss Northern Ireland (339-1) would be best advised to head home now.
Leading the field is Miss Puerto Rico at 11-5, though Miss Mexico is close behind on 12-5. Punters are clearly backing Latino flair over European charm, with Europe’s most-backed babe, Miss France, at 15-1.
Betfair spokesman Michael Robb said: “Yet again, punters are betting that England cannot produce a beauty capable of taking the Miss World title. “The UK last won in 1983 and it looks almost certain the barren spell will be extended this year.”
To win Miss World 2009 - Betfair lateest betting: 11-5 Miss Puerto Rico, 12-5 Miss Mexico, 9-1 Miss South Africa, 13-1 Miss Barbados, 14-1 Miss Jamaica, 15-1 Miss France, 45-1 Miss Gibraltar, 49-1 Miss Scotland, 199-1 Miss England, 229-1 Miss Wales, 339-1 Miss Northern Ireland (odds for all contestants are available)
