The answer to "Who did kill Archie Mitchell?" will finally be revealed in tonight's live epsiode of Eastenders, and at puntinplay our pound will be going on Jack Branning at 25-1.
The ex-copper seems to have been ruled out of committing the dirty deed by the bookies, but there are plenty of reasons to believe he could be the guilty party.
He never liked Archie, and his on/off relationship with his daughter Ronnie plus the baby he has with her sister Roxy gives him a strong motive to get him out of the way.
What's more interesting though is the way he has been trying to get his brother's son Bradley Branning out of the Square after finding out that he had hit Archie on the night of the murder.
He has been desperate to divert attention away from himself and point the finger at Bradley. If he had left the Square then he would have been the prime suspect and Jack would have been in the clear.
Another factor is how Jack has become involved in the police investigation, trying to help in any way he can and even giving a bung to DI Marsden's side kick to get rid off all the DNA tests taken from the men in Albert Square.
I used to be in charge of a police press office, and in murder investigations the first thing that detectives said to me was that often the prime suspect was the one who tried to help the police the most.
This often proved the case, and in this instance Jack Branning certainly fits the bill.
So in a fun betting market, my money is going on outsider Jack at a whopping 25-1 with Boylesports to finally be exposed as the man who did kill Archie Mitchell.
