Dundee Double

City of discovery value

(First Published: Saturday 27th February 2010 at 08:44hrs GMT)

As bookies attempt to predict the outcome of Sunday’s vital Old Firm clash, we are left with an abundance of value away from the main event.

With the SPL table finally beginning to take shape as title chasing Hibs drop off the pace, nearest rivals Dundee United once again have the opportunity to be recognised as the best of the rest.

The Arabs had three players called up to the Scotland squad this week and a win over basement boys Falkirk on Saturday would cap a remarkable seven days for the Tannadice side. United have failed to keep the heat on those above in recent weeks but they entertain a Falkirk squad with just two wins on the road all season. The Tangerines took an earlier fixture between the sides by four goals to one and can be trusted again here at the 7/10 offered by Paddy Power.

Punters looking for an attractively priced home win double may want to consider adding Inverness.

Caley are the real form side in the first division and you have to go way back to the 28th of November to find Terry Butcher’s last league defeat. The Highlanders entertain Ayr United who are staring down the barrel of relegation and with the Diamonds conceding no less than nineteen goals on the road, Inverness look fairly priced at 1/2 (Skybet).

Small stakes players who prefer the value on good travellers should give serious consideration to Victor Chadler’s even money about Dundee.

Jocky Scott’s league leaders journey to Raith Rovers and considering the Dark Blues have netted twelve goals on their travels whilst Raith have conceded thirteen in front of their own fans, the points making the trip to the City of Discovery looks likely.

Queen of the South complete a well priced away win double with their visit to struggling Airdrie. Queens currently occupy fourth spot in the table and with only one defeat since the 1st of December; they should have the confidence to continue their impressive campaign. Airdrie are nailed on to finish bottom of the league this year, meaning Expekt.com’s 20/19 looks almost like free money.
