Two things emerged from last nights game between Watford and Norwich. Firstly we were wrong to make a major betting call before September when the form has settled down and secondly there looks to be a fair gap between the promoted Division one sides and the existing Championship teams.
Derby County were similar to Watford last year. They flirted with the drop zone but never really established a long term relationship. Nigel Clough has had a season and a bit in charge and he really would be looking to convert Derby in a play-off team this season. If that is the case they need to get results at places like Elland Road.
Derby had a fair record last year but it was the away form that let them down. All four summer signings will be in contention this afternoon but Leeds will be without their summer signing Billy Paytner. Robert Snodgrass has been sidelined for a month with a knee injury while Max Gradel and Davide Somma are suspended.
This isn't a game to get to excited about but Derby finished above Watford last year and have strengthened, whilst Leeds finished behind Norwich last year and have failed to do so.
Derby look fair value at 3/1 but the recommendation is to lay Leeds at about the double your money mark.
