Aidan Coleman has been discharged from hospital after a fall in the novice hurdle at Aintree earlier today and is expected to be fit to ride Mon Mome in the John Smith's Grand National on Saturday.
Coleman received a kick to the stomach when he was unseated by Double Handful at the first in the Matalan Anniversay Novices Hurdle but got up and walked to the ambulance.
Aintree doctors decided to send him on to Fazakerley Hospital to be assessed for possible abdominal and shoulder injuries.
Venetia Williams, trainer of Mon Mome, told the BBC at 4.20pm: "I heard only five minutes ago that he has been discharged so one can assume from that there's no lasting damage."
The jockey returned to Aintree after being discharged and is receiving treatment from the physio. He will have to pass a medical exam conducted by the Aintree doctors if he is to resume riding on Friday, but reports are that he will be fine to partner Mon Mome in the big race.
