Chief Dan George foiled a huge gamble on The Package when holding on gamely to land the William Hill Trophy by a whisker.
The 33-1 shot looked home and hosed after leading at the last, but Timmy Murphy conjured a terrific late run from 9-2 favoruite The Package who flew up the hill and was gaining hand over first as the line approached.
But the Jimmy Moffat winner never knows when he is beaten and would not be denied, sticking his neck out gamely to just hang on under a terrific ride from Paddy Aspell.
The winning trainer, who rode Home Counties to victory in the Festival when in the saddle: "That's fantastic, even better than riding a winner. I jumped every fence and he's a terrific battler.
"He's in the Grand National but went get into that and he may now go to Aintree before a crack at the Scottish National. I will speak to Pady (Aspell) before finalising any plans"
