The likelihood of next week’s General Election yielding a Conservative majority increased 3% over the course of lasy night's BBC leaders debate, according to the betting on Betfair.
David Cameron was on 37% for a majority (odds 13-8) to be the next Prime Minister at 8.30pmt, ending on 40% (odds 6-4) by 10pm.
The chances of a Hung Parliament dropped 3%, from 59% (odds 4-6) to 56% (odds 4-5), though no overall majority remains the favourite in the betting.
Labour are currently a 3% chance (odds 32-1) for a majority, with the Lib Dems on 1% (odds 85-1).
Betfair spokesman Mike Robb said: “The betting interest in the live debates has increased week-by-week, with nearly double the amount wagered over the 90 minute match-up last night than in the first debate two weeks ago.
“Punters suggest David Cameron held his own and came out on top, with the chances of a Tory majority ending 3% higher than at the start of the debate.”
