DARREN BURNETT must be rubbing their hands with excited anticipation given he is just a match away from reaching the Gravells Welsh Open final.
The burly Scot, who has climbed up the provisional world rankings to 14th as result is now as short as 2-1 with bet365 to land his second ranking title in two years, following his success at the 2008 International Open.
He can still bee backed at 23-10 with Betfred, but why bother now when you'll be on at 20s – time to lay him off on Betfair, me thinks...
Welshman Robert Weale, who has never won this event despite reaching three finals, is next in the betting at 5-2 (Betfred), with his semi-final opponent Simon Skelton 16-5 (Betfred), with Australian Brett Wilkie – the man who not only Burnett plays in his last-four encounter, but was also the player he beat in that International Open final – is the outsider at 18-5 also with Betfred.
Despite being the 16th seed, as opposed to Weale (10) and Skelton (15), Burnett remains the man to beat in Swansea and hopefully he'll be picking up the trophy at around 5pm on Friday evening.
