Binocular bounced back to his brilliant best when running away with the Champion Hurdle in the hands of Tony McCoy.
The Nicky Henderson trained six-year-old hurdled better than ever and coming down the hill approaching two from home he was pulling double in the hands of the 14 times champ.
At this stage the only horse seemingly going well in behind was Khyber Kim in the hands of Paddy Brennan, but when AP pressed the button Bincolaur showed a terrific change of gear and the race was over.
The 9-1 winner put two lengths between himself and his nearet pursuer before powering up the hill for a memorable victory.
A delighted McCoy, who had vowed to come back and win the race after he finsihed third last year, said: "Coming down the hill I asked Ruby how he was going and he said Khyber Kim was crusing in behind but If I kicked on he would stay so that's exactly what I did and he was right."
"It's the best feeling ever, and I am so delighted for JPand Noreen (McManus).
Winning trainer Nicky Henderson, whose Zaynar also ran a great race to finish third, said he had never lost faith in the horse.
"We thought he was out of the race at one point, but he then game back to his best and started to show his old sparkle.
"When he finished third last year AP said he would win it next year. He was right and the horse deserved to win a big one."
A delighted JP McManus added: "That was very pleasing. I thought he looked magical when I saw him the other day, and fair play to Nicky in getting him here. It's full marks to everyone down at Seven Barrows, and AP of course!"
The winner is now a top priced 5-1 with Stan James to follow up next year.
