Romford's Puppy Cup gets underway this evening and I cannot see Ravin Giovanni failing to land this prestigious trophy for Seamus Cahill and connections. The way this strapping son of Blackstone Gene shrugged aside Little Urge last week on Champion Stakes final night, was enough to convince me that he is not one to take on with our hard earned. After being out-trapped he then flew to the bend where he did not shirk the issue, as he glided around the second bend and opened up with an electric burst of middle pace to cross the line in 23.87. If he ever traps at Romford the track record could be under serious threat. This is not his ideal track, which just goes to show what a performance that was. He is a best priced 4/7 for outright honours, which leaves us playing for only three more places in the each way market. Therefore I will be sitting out this competition in the ante post market as there does not seem to be any value. There is one bet at Romford though in heat 3.
Romford 7.58 - 400m Puppy Cup Heat 3.
There is only one bet to be had at Romford tonight where Da Conqueror goes in trap 1. He ran last week in an open at Monmore, but from trap 4 could never get across to the rails and was beaten a street by a very good animal. Flopsy Bunnytail in trap 2 will move off allowing plenty of room for the selection to get into top gear. Take the early 11/2 with Blue Square.
Nottingham 8.19 - 500m
A couple of weeks back I napped Elwick Bolero at 6/1 when he ran on Sky at Sheffield on the strength of an amazing performance the previous week on his debut. On that first run he missed the break but was awesome when coming from last to take second. Although he was beaten again when napped, he put in a tremendous run, only to be beaten by Charlie Lister's unbeaten Boher Paddy who did the clock! On 6th September he was given a look around this trip here and proceeded to fly around in 30.07! Trust me, this is a potential champion and has his draw in trap 1. Do not miss him tonight, the odds will be much shorter, but let's recoup losses.
Nottingham 8.36 - 500m
Farloe Titan failed to land a blow in Romford's Champion Stakes semi finals when stuck out in trap 5. Clad in red tonight against his favoured rails is the time to be with him. Paul Sallis' Arc winner can get back to winning ways here, by making the bend and hugging the fence all the way.
